New potatoes

As we've had nice dry weather all week and we're expecting a wet week ahead, this morning I dug up the first lot of white-fleshed Kennebec potatoes that have been growing in the apple crate veggie bed. Really looking forward to the Dutch Creams though - they are my favourites.

  1. I don't know about you, but before I came to Tasmania I knew two types of potatoes - white ones and red ones. They were never named in suburban Adelaide. Tasmania seems to take pride in producing the very many delightful potatoes and knowledgeable, worthwhile conversations and/or discussions can be heard regarding the merits of each one! I just love it.
ps. It's a toss up between King Edwards and Pink Eyes for me....

  2. Same! In Sydney we got brushed, washed, new or Desiree (pink). I have really enjoyed trying all the different varieties that are grown locally here.
